Hi, I’m Wesley!

Before I introduce myself, I want to take a second to absorb this surreal, full-circle moment for myself. I am, in 2026, creating a Topic, on a message board. Leave it to me (and Mishmashers, for that matter) to strike while the iron is hot!

Yes, it’s true, and there is no tiptoeing around it – forums aren’t exactly all the rage these days. But, you know what? I like forums. I like the shared community of it all, and I like having the opportunity to interact with like-minded (and, sometimes, ‘not’ like-minded) people.

I did it a bunch when I was a kid.

The first forum I was ever a part of was a professional wrestling forum, if you can believe it. Back then, the world seemed, paradoxically, so much bigger and so much simpler to understand. I hold a lot of nostalgia for those days – role-playing as a professional wrestling and talking smack (they were called e-Feds, and I would credit them as an important factor in my development as a writer).

Truth is though, I know there is no way to capture that same level of excitement that I once felt. At the same time, that doesn’t mean we can’t connect with one another on a more intimate, smaller scale – escaping from the internet shouting factory, bringing it back to a more minimalist, simple community. Is it a little outdated? Perhaps. Then again, I’m a little outdated. The very concept of a book publishing company, or a writer’s … anything is a little antiquated. That’s okay though. I don’t do it to be hip, I do it because I want to do it and I hope Mishmashers can serve as a platform for people who want to do it too.

Thus, without further adieu, my name is Wesley Nyx and it’s nice to meet you.

I started writing at a very young age (my third novel Forever with Love was actually built from the old unfinished manuscript I wrote when I was thirteen-years-old) and I like to think I have become halfway decent at it. My main inspirations stem largely from the horror genre and things that are horror adjacent, which I find bleeds into anything I try to write. I live in a small town in Illinois with my wife and one too many cats.
